What's new?

Foreign Private Issuers will need to submit Financials in XBRL

The Securities Exchange Commision (SEC) published on its website the addition of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Taxonomy to the EDGAR Filer Manual. This newly published taxonomy enables foreign private issuers that prepare their financial statements in accordance with the IFRS to submit Form 20F or 40-F reports using XBRL.

Who needs to comply?

Foreign IFRS filers

When?

Fiscal periods ending on or after December 15, 2017

Why?

  • XBRL provides greater transparency
  • Allows for enhanced data analysis
  • Enables investors and analysts to easily download, analyze data and to compare opportunities.
