For nearly a decade, Computershare's U.S. Communication Services facilities, which design, produce and deliver our clients' printed and electronic stakeholder communications materials, have maintained ISO 9001 certification through multiple revisions of the standard – most recently achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification.

We're proud of this accomplishment, but we're even more proud of what it represents – our quality system meets a world-class standard, helping to ensure that we deliver the best possible results for our clients.

ISO (also known as the International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental international organization. The ISO 9001 framework sets out standards for quality management systems that include a strong customer focus, motivation and implication of top management, a process-oriented approach and continual improvement.

ISO generally revises its standards every six to eight years, to take into account new developments in business and technology, and in December 2015 the group released its latest revision: the ISO 9001:2015 standards. All three of our U.S. Communication Services facilities completed certification for the new requirements within 10 months – a process that ordinarily can take up to three years.

ISO 9001:2015 certification demonstrates that the U.S. Communication Services quality system enables us to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as including processes for ongoing improvement of the system. The Communication Services quality system guides the processes and procedures we follow for all our clients, regardless of size or complexity, and provides clear instructions that empower our workforce to do the right thing, every time.

The 2015 revision included additional requirements for certification that focused on risk management and risk-based thinking. Meeting these requirements means that our quality management system is focused not only on catching errors but on understanding and mitigating risks of errors before they happen. Because we had already incorporated risk management best practices into our quality system, we were able to rapidly complete our ISO 9001:2015 certification in less than a year.
