2024 is progressing just as 2023 ended – being proud to help our clients prosper in the UK and globally. In this bulletin we outline a short overview of our success so far.

We also note The Accelerated Settlement Taskforce recently recommended the UK move to a T+1 settlement of financial trades by 2027. We'll be sharing more content on this in future editions, or feel free to reach out to me separately.

Finally, we're delighted to welcome Flutter Entertainment, Smurfit Kappa, CRH, Mears Group and more to the Computershare family - and congratulate MicroSalt on the 1st AIM IPO of the year!

IPO Advisor drinks

We remain commited to building a community with our partners – and the last quarter was no different.

It was gratifying to catch up with so many new and friendly faces at our annual advisor drinks in January – the Australian red, white and rosé wines were flowing in full force in recognition of our antipodean heritage.

We also continue to build bridges with our company secretary peers at our Governance Readout Breakfasts and OpenSpace events.

Special thanks to Kelvin Ernest and Jessica Dahlstrom from the Financial Reporting Council and Nicholas Pervin who presented on changes to the FRC Code and the resulting implications for Company Secretarial teams.

Georgina Milis also outlined the practical steps companies should follow in order to prepare for the changes in the Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act (ECCTA), and John Britton and Georgeson’s Daniel Veazey provided some early but seasonal AGM insights.

  • Began providing global governance services to a number of new FTSE 100 clients, tackling their entity management issues.

UK Dividend Monitor

UK dividends started 2024 on a positive note, rising 4.9% to £15.6bn in Q1, ahead of our expectations owing to higher one-off special dividends. As a result, we forecast 4.3% growth (up from 3.7%) to £94.5bn in total payouts in 2024.

The Dividend Monitor tracks significant trends in UK equity income and provides a quarterly forecast for UK pay-outs, offering readers a comprehensive and accurate analysis on UK dividends.
