South African companies distributed approximately R110 billion in dividends during Q2 2026.​​ Although this represented a 31.4% year-on-year decline from the record Q2 2025 comparison period, Q2 remained the third-highest second-quarter total in the report’s historical series.​​

Following an exceptionally strong first quarter, H1 2026 became the strongest first half in the

DivInsight data series.​​  Dividend leadership broadened during Q2. The five largest payers contributed 47% of total dividends, while banks, telecommunications and insurance were the leading sectors.​​
