The UK market is undergoing a significant change which is designed to help it to modernise and protect its status as one of the world’s leading capital markets. Market transformation is an opportunity to improve experiences for your shareholders, with reduced cost, more efficiency and less complexity. Through digital enablement technology, expanded solutions and influencing where it matters, we can help you meet the challenges ahead.
This process of market modernisation is well underway. As a global company, our experience can lead you through these changes. Our recent work supporting dematerialisation in Hong Kong and Ireland, and our long-standing work operating in digitised markets South Africa, Canada and Australia, means that we have the foundations to take you through digitisation of UK shares, and beyond. Additionally, our work in the US on the introduction of tokenised shares and T+1, means we have crucial experience in handling complex initiatives designed to modernise a market.
In part, regulatory change in the UK has been designed to revive the UK IPO Market, and Computershare has supported some of the biggest IPOs, mergers and acquisitions and activism defences in 2026.
We’ve been making extensive investments in our services, capability and technology so we’re all ready. A brand-new shareholder app is around the corner, digital journeys are being rolled out across our services, and a new website is already live. We’ve expanded our solutions to deliver an integrated end-to-end service, enabling better governance, reduced risk and better shareholder insight and conversations. For example, our expanded register analysis service gives you better insights for decision-making, while our new investor relations CRM tool and investor intelligence advisory gives you better oversight and control over your shareholder engagement.
We’re now in a position to provide a full suite of advisory and delivery capabilities under one roof. This is why a record number of FTSE 350 companies now use Computershare for more than just their registry provision in 2026.

Head of UK Registry
Firstly, I’d like to say thank you for your continued partnership. I’m incredibly proud of the team, the relationships that we’ve built and the work that we’ve delivered together over the past year.
The world that we operate in is increasingly complex, and having a trusted partner that you can rely on to navigate this world is crucial. As you’ll already know, the UK is moving towards increased digitisation of UK share ownership arrangements. It’s one of the most significant and consequential changes that we’ve faced in decades. Despite this, we’re continuing to focus and invest in the delivery of high-quality services for you and your shareholders. With our wealth of experience working with issuers around the world, we can help you meet every challenge, whether it’s supporting you through the wider UK market digitisation, or through day-to-day solutions.
Dematerialisation is a journey, not a milestone. We’ve been an active participant in the DEMAT Taskforce, providing insight to ensure that the approach taken and the practicalities of implementation reflect and balance the needs of issuers, investors and the market as a whole. The path ahead will continue to evolve as policy, infrastructure and market practices take shape. Significant market structure transformation is what we do best, guiding you as you navigate through complexity, interpret what’s happening and prepare for what’s next. Our dematerialisation hub is live, and our experts will keep this updated with everything you need to know.
Alongside this, the broader market continues to shift. T+1, the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act and ongoing regulatory and technological change all bring new challenges. Our relationship managers are here to support you, and we continue to expand opportunities to hear from market and resident experts. Whether it’s bringing together people from government for a live panel, advising on the latest regulatory matters in our newsletters or holding networking events for governance professionals, we’ll help you stay ahead through clear advice, integrated delivery and strong relationships that you can rely on.

Bigger, better and more services
As one of the UK's most trusted partners to private and public companies, we're always aiming to innovate and expand, so that you can meet the challenges that today's fast-paced market brings.
That's why we've invested in new investor intelligence solutions and IR CRM as part of our new investor engagement business. This means deeper expertise and stronger oversight that can improve your shareholder management. We've expanded our shareholder operations and added register analytics to our portfolio too, meaning better experiences for your shareholders and more insights over your shareholder base. In 2026, a record number of FTSE 350 companies are using multiple Computershare services.
Expanding Issuer Services
A full suite of Issuer Services means we can be your strategic partner across share registry, entity governance and compliance, and investor engagement, with the people, expertise, technology and tools to provide services, insights, advice and support that will keep you on the front foot across your governance needs.
It’s all about investor engagement
For better oversight and control and to improve shareholder experiences, we've acquired CMi2i (investor intelligence) and ingage (investor relations). This means more oversight over your investors, and access to technology that improves decision-making, gives you better data and analytics and enhances shareholder conversations with more effective engagement frameworks. These join Georgeson, who continue to offer superb proxy advisory support.
Improved shareholder experiences
Client and shareholder experiences continue to improve with a new Contact Centre system called Genesys, which provides more visibility over the types of activities and the ebb and flow of activity volumes. Your shareholders will receive a better service, because our teams can better understand and prepare for busy periods, while AI integration frees up human resources to focus on shareholders.
More high-stakes events supported
As your partner, our global expertise in processes, execution, and compliance and regulation, gives you the confidence and clarity you need during complex and high-stakes corporate actions. This year, we've supported:
Corporate Actions including 28 Scheme of Arrangements
Tender Offers
Capital Payments
dividend events
Becoming a world leader in digital innovation
By continuing to invest in our digital capabilities, we can provide the technology and services that can help you stay ahead in a rapidly changing and complex UK capital market.
How we're improving client experiences
Dematerialisation, tokenisation and T+1 are designed to modernise a world-leading capital market. With that comes complexity, which means you need a trusted partner that can deliver the advice, support, technology and services that you need to stay ahead. Better analytics will bring better insights, our new client portal and Investor Centre mobile will improve experiences, while API layers, AI and Cloud integration with our tech will improve output and help you leverage functionality to the fullest extent. Our webinar uncovers how we’re preparing for the future.

What is our AI strategy?
Our AI strategy focuses on improving quality, enhancing experiences and driving innovation. We’ve taken a two-pronged approach. Firstly, we’re enhancing technology with AI. Investor Centre, Sphere and our chatbot are all being enhanced by AI to ensure that you can benefit from it practically, beyond the hype. Secondly, we’re equipping our staff with the right tools and skills so that they can serve you better and improve your experience with iIncreased efficiency and responsiveness, more personalised client and shareholder interactions and advanced capabilities that empower better decisions and unlock new opportunities.
Other ways we’re improving experiences
Our focus has always been on improving our customer’s experience. That includes the rollout of our chat service to additional regions such as Ireland and Jersey. AI has enabled customers to begin their journey with a chatbot that can escalate to customer service.
A new knowledge base, with a searchable, menu-driven interface is now being used by customers. An enhanced voice service, intent capture, sentiment analysis and improved call routing has all improved the end experience.
We’ve launched a new self-service platform that enables customers to notify us of a shareholder’s death digitally, replacing the slow, paper-based processes that proceeded it. Further enhancements are already underway.
We’re enhancing the systems we use to take administration payments from shareholders to improve customer experience by enabling secure, authenticated payments alongside existing methods.
We’ve reduced postal rejection rates from 10% to 4% by improving forms, guidance and communications, delivering faster processing and a significantly better experience for shareholders.
Improved the lost certificate journey by increasing fee thresholds, simplifying processes and integrating indemnity info forms, reducing rejections and streamlining postal dealing.
We have increased the Small Estates threshold to £50K, simplifying access, reducing probate requirements and significantly expanding eligibility, making the process faster, easier and more cost-effective.
We’re introducing a new Global Complaints Framework across Computershare, overseen by a new Head of Complaints, to ensure that shareholder complaints are resolved promptly and that the customer experience is of a consistent high-standard across regions.
We’re deploying a new Global Complaints System to enhance our capabilities to resolve shareholder complaints swiftly, meet regulatory requirements and use the learnings from complaints to improve the customer journey.
We’re committed to ensuring shareholders have their complaint resolved on the first occasion and don’t have to contact us multiple times. We’ve improved the percentage of complaints on the first occasion by improving the way we communicate complaint outcomes and increasing our focus on issue resolution.
Giving you a voice in industry
With so much change impacting our industry, we know it’s hard to keep up. Dematerialisation is complex, and tokenisation is coming, and it feels like developments are changing every day.
Our aim is to help you stay one step ahead during times of change. By understanding your views on key market and industry developments, we can help advise industry bodies on the impact of their policies and ensure the market evolves in ways that benefit issuers and their shareholders.
Preparing you for the future
Changes are on the horizon, including the move to T+1, dematerialisation and tokenisation. Plans are in place and services are being expanded to provide certainty when it matters.
Our core delivery team for dematerialisation is preparing for and delivering the requirements for Step 1, while continuing to innovate services to issuers and investors for when the UK moves to an intermediated model of share ownership, potentially towards the end of the decade. It’s the biggest market change since the introduction of CREST, and our multi-year effort with stakeholders, governments and regulators will bring assurance for issuers when it matters.
Keep up to date with the latest news at our Dematerialisation hub.
Your voice in industry and government
To be your voice in industry and government, we’ve participated and led numerous taskforces and industry bodies. This means we can shape market change and deliver crucial insights that provide assurance during complex moments.
This has included Chairing the Registrars Group during ECCTA implementation and advising the CGI as they update their guidance on proper purpose requests. This, alongside our seat on the Dematerialisation Market Action Taskforce (DEMAT), means you get fast information that provides clarity and confidence when responding to regulation.
Beyond our direct participation in working groups and advisory bodies such as those described above, we continue to encourage issuers to be engage on these topics themselves. The ‘issuer voice’ will be critical in ensuring that markets evolve in a way that meets their needs.
Our website is the best place to find the latest news. In the last few months, we’ve taken deep dives into regulatory topics like Provision 29 and ECCTA, uncovered the world of shareholder intelligence, explored what makes an effective company board and revealed how to stay compliant in virtual company meetings. Georgeson has uncovered the trends impacting shareholder activism, and how to react to an requisition notice, while we’ve also discovered the trends impacting the AIM Market.
Getting you ready for dematerialisation
As strong advocates for the removal of physical share certificates, we’re well positioned to be your strategic partner as you move to a fully digitised model and prepare for wider modernisation of the UK capital market. Our work for Step 1 of the Digitisation Taskforce recommendations is fully underway, alongside planning for Step 2 and Step 3. This means you'll be fully prepared for what comes next.
How we’re supporting delivery
