Recently we were delighted to host our joint Annual Client Conference with multinational law firm, Eversheds Sutherland. This year we discussed the key regulations affecting our clients, and highlighted the trends we expect to see across the industry in 2017.

We were joined by four speakers who covered the following topics:

Nicholas updated us on shareholder voting trends and his expectations for the 2017 AGM season and Shareholder Activism.
Nigel Derrick, Head of Computershare Plan Managers Ireland, Computershare
Nigel spoke about the benefits of share ownership and presented research to show how companies use employee ownership to their advantage. He also updated us on the Irish ProShare Association’s new governance structure.
Lee Murphy, Corporate Partner, Eversheds Sutherland
Lee gave us the latest insights on the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and explained to our clients how they would be affected. He also provided an overview of the Eclairs Group Ltd v JKX Oil & Gas plc decision in the UK Supreme Court relating to the exercise of directors’ powers.
Fiona Mahon, Head of Company Secretarial, Eversheds Sutherland
Fiona brought us up-to-date on the Beneficial Ownership Regulations 2016, mandatory electronic filing, Companies Accounting Bill 2016 and an overview of two UK consultations on Corporate Governance reform.
