Paul Murphy is Head of ESG APAC at Georgeson and is responsible for growing and executing the ESG advisory strategy across Asia Pacific. This is achieved by assisting clients with managing their environmental, social and corporate governance risks and opportunities. Paul was previously on the Vanguard Global Investment Stewardship team responsible for promoting long-term value creation on behalf of clients, portfolio company engagement, proxy voting, advocacy and thought leadership on investment stewardship issues in Australia. Prior to that, Paul led Vanguard’s government relations and regulatory affairs functions as Head of Advocacy and Strategy, influencing public policy in Australia. Before joining Vanguard, Paul gained over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector. He has held roles across strategic marketing, financial education and advice, industry advocacy, public affairs and stakeholder relations in organisations such as UniSuper, the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors, the Australian Investment Managers’ Association and the Victorian State Government. Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Monash University and a Masters in Organisational Leadershipfrom Melbourne Business School. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
